Doing 19 miles looks very strange, I am well aware of that.  Oh well.  I had 17 on the menu for today and added a couple extra so I guess I should feel good about the effort even though I should have just done one more mile so I could call it 20.  Everything felt pretty good today except for some tightness in my left calf, and quad.  I think these past two week of high mileage by my standards is starting to get the best of me.  Was able to run a few miles in the low 8:00's today and felt pretty comfortable for the most part.  Had a little bit of dog trouble today, these dog owners are just killing me.  One more tough week to go before the taper starts.  I hope the body holds up for just one more week.

That's great to get another 20 [almost] in the bank. Keep your fingers crossed for one more injury free week.

Hey I know just what you mean about this last week of peak training. Just hoping and praying that we survive the week in one piece and can coast through the last 2-3 weeks of taper and be ready to rock on race day. Good luck finding the perfect balance of training vs. rest.

Jeff, the long runs will pay big. I really think that BQ is going to happen for you. Is this the best training effort you have had, leading to a marathon?

From Mark on Sep 08, 2008 at 10:39:06

Be careful and hang in there for one more tough week then enjoy the taper. Do that and you you've got an almost guaranteed PR and a good shot at BQ also!

Good job on your long run! (I've done some 19's before too.)

Can you believe we're down to under 4 weeks to go 'til SGM?

Watch out for those dogs!

From JeffC on Sep 08, 2008 at 11:15:06

Mike this is by far the best training I have had going into a marathon. I've only ever had one 20 miler going into any marathon and I hope to have 3 in the bank going into SGM.
