Windy day today and temps were at 48 degrees, coldest of the year so far.  I imagine with the wind chill we were probably in the low 40s.  Everything felt really good today despite the less than ideal weather.  I ran with gloves and a stocking cap and was able to stay warm enough once I got going.  Legs didn't feel much fatigue and I felt like I had it in me to go faster but resisted the urge and kept the pace pretty conservative.  It's tough to hold back when the legs want to go and everything feels good.

Meg and I are officially entered to run the Las Vegas marathon.  She isn't sure if she will actually run but I think she will train with me just in case.  Her knee has been bothering her since the marathon, so today I ran solo while she did the elyptical.  She has been diligent about icing and taking ibuprofen so hopefully she will be good to go on Monday.  I think the 9 weeks between SGM and LVM should be plenty of time to recover, build and taper for LVM on December 7.

It sounds like you are recovering good from SG. Did you sign up for the runners series?

How did Meg do in the marathon?

From JeffC on Oct 11, 2008 at 16:28:28

Yes, Meg and I are both in the runners series. Luckily I was sitting at my desk the second it opened and got us both in.

Meg finished in 3:42, which is another BQ for her but is 12 minutes shy of her 3:30 goal. In good weather I know she is there, she ran a 3:34 last year.

Jeff --

Nice run!! So, you're getting a little chill over there, huh?

I completely forgot to register for the series until it was too late. Stink!! Hopefully I'll get lucky and make the lottery.

You are so diehard to be running another marathon already!! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

LV marathon sounds like a lot of fun. Hopefully you'll get the weather you deserve and a new PR!

From JeffC on Oct 11, 2008 at 21:26:49

Mark...I don't think LVM is a PR type course. It is pretty flat for the most part and they usually have the wind factor involved coming from one direction or another. Maybe if the everything lines up just right there might be a PR, we'll just see

Teena..I just need to run the LV marathon once before Devine racing screws it up for good and they don't have it anymore. Not diehard, just a bit goofy. And yes, it's chilly, but it's supposed to warm back up a bit next week.....ahhhhhhh.

Maybe you will luck out and get a tail wind for Vegas.

From Cal on Oct 12, 2008 at 16:19:01

I've heard a lot of rumors about LVM still not being a done deal (funding, permits, etc.) Is there any official news about it taking place for sure?

(I'm considering going out there for the 1/2 if I recover from my injury in time)

From JeffC on Oct 12, 2008 at 19:42:09

Cal...I haven't heard anything about the marathon. I was over at the marathon office last week and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I hope it's still on cause I'm planning on it. If devine cancels it, good luck getting any refunds...

Jeff --

"Diehard?" "Goofy?" Really ... is there and difference?

You boys!!!

From Teena on Oct 12, 2008 at 23:35:29

(Okay, so I tried to "edit" my mis-spelled word ... but it wouldn't let me ... what am I doing wrong?) This is what I meant to say:

"Diehard," "Goofy ..." Really ... is there ANY difference?

You Boys!!!
