A slow 6 today.  Still keeping things pretty easy just trying to see how my body handles a few extra miles.  Things went fair today.  The injury is still a bit bothersome but doesn't seem to be getting any worse.  It's hard to tell if it's getting any better because it has felt about the same for the past 4 days when I run, however the pain during the day seems to be easing up a bit (even without the drugs) so that's a good sign.  Still in the wait and see mode.

Good job Jeff. It sounds like it's coming along. Does the pain ease up during the run as warm up, or is it pretty consistent?

Cal, thanks for checkin in. I wish I could say it eases up during the run, but it is pretty consistent. That is why I think it may be a nerve issue related to my lower back. Just have to let that nerve calm down and hopefully things will be good again.

Jeff do you do strength training for you lower back?

I know about 10 years ago I had a lot of the same problem. I have a bowflex now that I use 2 to 3 days a week and one of the exercises that I do does strengthen the lower back and my back issues have subsided...

Do you have a bulging Disk, or is it something else? Just curious.

I hope the calf gets to feeling better...

Clay, I don't do any strength training and that might well be my problem. I do core exercises at least a couple times a week but not very hard core. Those are supposed to help with supporting the back as well.

My original surgery in 1992 was for a herniated disk at L4/L5. My latest MRI about 6 months ago shows some bulging and some herniation of the disks at L4/L5 and L5/S1. I really don't want to have another surgery so am hoping to be able to live with it and hope it doesn't get worse.
