Another 15 on the bike today.  I am starting to sound like a broken record I know.  It was pretty windy today and it was right in my face for the entire uphill section of the usual course.  Backside is still sore and sitting in the saddle is painful, hopefully my butt builds up a tolerance to the seat soon or I will be standing for the whole ride.  I guess all new cyclists have to deal with a few saddle sores in the beginning.

Jeff, It's good to see you're getting some good cross training while your back recovers a bit. Your butt will get used to it hopfully sooner than later. Good luck with it.

You're the biking guru. Tell me what you wear for biking pants and such. Right now I just ride my mtn. bike in my running cloths with no butt padding. Like you said maybe my butt will get used to it.

I would love to get a nice road bike, I hear it's worth the money if you strictly do road biking compared to a mtn bike on the road. I really don't ride on any trials, I'd probably crash.

I mostly just wear jeans when it's colder and my running shorts when it's warm but they make cycling shorts with padding in the butt area. I do remember times after not riding for a while when it can get awfully painfull expecially after 3 or 4 days of riding. After the 1st week it should start to get better and eventually get to where it's not an issue anymore.

I would like to get a nice road bike also. The one I have now is a little older model I got at a bike swap for $250 but even with it you can tell a big difference on the road compared to a mountain bike. I might be doing a biathlon on the 14th but almost all of my cycling has been recovery and I'm not very fast on the bike right now and it's also tough to compete against guys on 5 to 10 thousand [or even 16 like one guy I know] dollar bikes even when I am in good riding shape.
