Another 5 easy miles today.  Easy is a relative term.  I am trying to go a little bit faster on my easy runs and stay within the 8:00 - 8:30 pace recommended on the McMillan calculator.  To me this pace should feel easier than it does and maybe over time it will become easier, but some days it feels too much like work.  Today felt okay and once again increased my 5 mile PR, which isn't saying much.  Started out with a couple of slower miles and then picked up the pace just a little when Meg needed to stop.  She hasn't been feeling well the last couple of days.  The last 3 miles I ran right at about an 8:00/mile pace which is where I would like to be on my "easy" days.  Only one more day until the USG triathalon in St. George, can't wait until that is over with.  Blaughghgh!  Warm weather today about 76 at the start of the run.

Time: 8:10/mile

You should never force an easy pace to be faster than what feels right no matter what calculators say.

Thanks Sasha, I just feel like this is the pace I need to use right now to achieve the level of fitness I am looking for. My easy runs have been 8:30-9:00 for over a year now and I feel like it's time to step it up, not much, just a bit and stop being lazy.

At this level you should be upping the mileage, not the speed. The only time you should push the pace is in a tempo run or a race. Easy runs will develop you aerobically about the same way at any pace that is slower than 7:20. The only difference for you between 7:20 and 9:00 is that you experience a greater neurological stress, and well as unnecessarily stressing the muscles, tendons, and bones. It would be far better for you to go 8 at 9:00 pace than 5 at 8:10 pace right now.

Thanks again. Over next couple months I will be upping the mileage beyond any level I have ever gone before so the slower running will probably be more necessary as the mileage goes up. The first few weeks of this training plan are pretty low miles.
