Another day on the bike.  Foot and ankle are still bothering me so I decided to take the bike again.  Same route as yesterday and pretty much the same time.  Really need to get a light for my bike because it is mighty dark out there at 5:00 AM.  Meg went with me today just to keep me company and we really worked hard on the uphill sections of the course.  Coming down the hills back toward home we got passed by a couple of guys on road bikes.  We were going about 25MPH and they were probably going closer to 30 and still had the gears to pedal.  A nice road bike would sure be fun for these road rides instead of our moutain bikes.  Oh well, at least it is a very good work out and my legs are pretty wiped out by the end of these rides.  I know it's not the same as running, but hopefully I can at least maintain some of my fitness while I heal up.

Wat to go Jeff, you won't loose much fitness at all... Have you been to the doctor yet, and if you have what did he suggest? Hang in there and be patient, I know its hard but just keep the cross training up until you feel comfortable to run on the foot:-)

WOW Dude!! 25 on a mountain bike is flying. I have to be really pushing it to get 25 on flat roads. And you did it on a mountain bike. AWESOME!! And as for the fitness I am sure your not going to loose any fitness with that kind of effort. And the best thing is you feel fine normally after and then next day. Great job man.

Mark...On flat roads I am averaging about 17-18, I only get up to 25-27 on the good downhill sections.

Clay...I couldn't get an appointment until next Tuesday so I am doing the things that I am sure he would tell me to do, Ice, Anti-inflams, and no running. The only thing I think he could add is an explanation of what is going on and maybe cortisone if he thinks it will help.

Either way even on a downhill your getting a great workout man. Dont worry about losing much at all. Your getting a great workout on the bike. Great recovery or xtraining for sure man. Your doing everything right I think. Keep it up man.
