Bad News!!

I seemed to have injured my right calf muscle today playing capture the flag with the kids.  Can't run on it, can't walk on it without a limp.  Been icing, elevating on wrapping as well as anti-inflammatories and rest.  Didn't happen due to any hard movements that I am aware of it just started hurting like maybe it was a charlie horse and hasn't let up all day.  Unless this thing makes a miraculous recovery in the next few days, the marathon may be out.  Right now I am just taking it a day at a time, hoping for the best.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!

Call a sports doc first thing in the morning and beg to be seen immediately. This will all work out. You have worked far too hard, it's got to work out.

Keep icing and taking the IB. Elevate it as much as possible. Can you take tomorrow off of work and stay off of it?

It will all work out. Sending lots of positive healing thoughts your way and will pray like crazy tonight.

Tell yourself at least 100 times before you go to bed that your calf is healing and will feel so much better in the morning.

You are totally running LVM. Things will fall in place.

OH Jeff!!! It can't be. I ditto what Teena said. You will be alright tomorrow. Sending positive vibes your way.

Wow, sorry to hear that Jeff.

Just like Teena said, call a Sports Doc and get in there today! Be tenacious.

Hope it works out. Let us know what the doctor says.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers they seemed to have helped. I am feeling a bit better today and hoping for the best over the next few days.

I still think you should see a doc, unless you know exactly what is going on. When you say "a bit better," what does that mean? Can you walk without limping yet?

From JeffC on Mon, Dec 01, 2008 at 18:17:40

Teena..You know how guys are about docs!?!? :) Seriously, I am able to walk without a limp and it is feeling better today as the day goes on. Hopefully the trend continues, because I sure do want to get at least a couple of runs in this week before the marathon to test it out. The only reasons I haven't been in to see the doc is cause I don't have a sports doc and the pain is improving and I don't think he/she would tell me to do much more than I already am with the RICE. I even have some prescription anti-inflamatories that I am taking. Hopefully it's enough. I will be trying it out on Tuesday morning slow and easy to see what happens.
