Finally was able to talk some sense into myself this morning and decided to run a true recovery run.  Everything about my mind and body is just wasted.  I don't know if I will even be able to complete a full 20 miler tomorrow.  I have definately found my current limit and three weeks in a row at the 60 mile/week range with tempos and GMP runs is my limit, at least right now.  I know there is a lot of fatigue and mental breakdown involved with marathon training but this time around seems much worse than ever before.  The plan after tomorrow is to take the taper as it comes and really give my body a chance to recover and heal.  It's good to know that I have pushed my body to what I feel is a safe limit but man I feel very suckish as a result.

So anyway, I digress, back to the run.  I was able to slog through the miles and was glad when I was done.....nuff said!  Temp was a warm 66 with a pretty good wind out of the north.

Time:  43:33  8:43/mile

I assume you're training for the Vegas marathon in December?

Jeff...

I can only imagine what my body would feel like after putting in all the miles you've been logging each week. My hat is off to you. I'm sure once you start tapering you'll feel a like new man. So one more 20 miler to go?

Jeff, Your training has been so good these last few weeks I'm sure all it will take is a couple easy days to get back that zip. Good call on the true recovery run this morning.

Right on a true recovery run there. At least from the paces. I am sure you will be able to get your 20 miler in. It will be the last big push week. And you will be able to do it man. And then taper time. You are doing awesome. Is Meg doing all these miles along with you too??

Hey you can do it! Just take your 20 miler one mile at a time and remember it should be a long SLOW run!

From Smooth on Fri, Nov 14, 2008 at 23:08:46

YES, just one more 20 miler!!! Break it up in 5's. You know you can do 5, start out slow and easy, practice your pacing and save the speed for the last 5K. My favorite thing to do after a 20 miler is a nice nap after a recovery drink and ice bath.
