Going to slowly step up the mileage over the next several weeks and it starts today.  Woke up a little late this morning to do 8 miles so I had to hustle to fit them in along with the yoga and an early morning birthday party for my 11 year old daughter Jamie.  Felt pretty good this morning with no major complaints, no calf tightness, life is good.  I don't know what the temp was this morning but man it is really heating up lately.  I think summer is finally here and now it's two long months of super warm running.  I really need to start getting up a half an hour earlier to beat the sunrise and the heat.

The heat is on! Thats why I have been running at 4:30. Good luck with your training to STG. Always exciting for the official start of another BQ attempt.

Nice job, Jeff. How hot is it in the early morning?

Jeff I will be in St. George all this week so I need some tips on running in the heat! I really don't want to get up at 4:00am on vacation but if that's what it takes!

I would say the morning temps in St. George are slightly cooler than Vegas but only by 5 or 6 degrees. We are usually pushing 80 on most summer mornings. It just doesn't cool off here very well at night.

On a normal day I usually get up around 4:20 and am out the door before 5:00. With the time change between Nevada and Utah the sun is up here by about 5:30 so the heat is on a lot earlier. If you got going by 5:00 in St. George you should be okay but it will be hotter than you are used to. Make sure you drink more water than you think you should to stay extra hydrated and you should be fine. Have a nice trip to St. George.
