I think today was the hottest day of the year so far.  Since talking so much about the temperature here yesterday I decided to check this morning before my run to see what we were at.  The temp was 87 degrees and cloudy so there was also a bit of humidity in the air.  It was pretty icky today.  Everything felt good but it was just a bit too warm for my liking.  At least the sun wasn't beating down on me on top of the already warm temps.  I'm glad the birthdays are over for the rest of the training cycle, all always eat like a pig.  Now I just have to worry about the family reunion camping trip next week when I will have to run above 8,000 feet for a couple of days at Duck Creek.

162 miles for the month is below my average for the year but considering 3 sick days and tapering for a couple of races it's actaully better than expected.  If I stay healthy, it should climb above 200/month through September.

Great job on another great run this week. I cant believe the heat that you run in. Even before the sun comes up. It seems like your at least use to that kind of heat.

Dont forget about eating like a PIG for the 4th of July! Duck Creek will be a blast to run at. You have a great base built-up, you have been very consistent this year. My guess, when you ramp it up for SGM you will see quick and major improvments.

Wow 87 degrees I guess I won't cry about 70's any more! I least I know it is possible. How often do you drink when you run in the heat? I know you run by your house so you don't take a fuel belt right?

I love when I get to run at high altitude in the summer time. It gives me a break from the heat and pushes my cardiovascular system beyond what it is used to. Have fun camping. Watch out for moutain lions.

I don't know how you run in that heat. That sounds crazy.

Nice job on the monthly miles HB!

You're paying now for how nice you have it all winter. I hate to make you jealous but our mornings lately have been low 50s and even upper 40s and usually doesn't even hit 60 until around 8 AM.

Mark..I guess I am used to the heat but it's still pretty suckish.

Mike..I'm sure I'll eat like a PIG for a few more weeks until the holidays are over but then, like you, I really want to shed about 10 pounds in July so I can be lean and mean for SGM.

Kathie..I don't drink at all during my morning runs, anything under an hour I don't usually drink. That's why I try to stay extra hydrated during the day and at work.

Rhett..I too enjoy the break from the heat but the hills and elevation are killers. My sis is training for SGM this year so I will get to run with her up at duck creek, should be fun.

Teena..Me neither.

Dave..I'm not jealous of upper 40s, that's too cold. Upper 50s sound nice though. I guess it is all about what you are used to.
