Kept the pace fairly slow today and it all felt good after last Saturday's long run and hike with the scouts.  The hike may have even helped with some of the recovery.  Legs only felt slightly fatigued today and I felt like I could have easily gone faster but resisted the urge.  Tomorrow I am going to make an attempt at adding some 800 intervals into the mix.  The plan is to have Tuesdays be the interval day and Thursday's be the tempo run day.  I plan to start out running the intervals and tempos slower than I think I could in order to let the body slowly get used to the work out over the next 2-3 weeks.  If things go well I will try to increase the pace and go from there.  If I am going to make a serious attempt at a BQ (3:15) at SGM then I am going to need the extra speed and tempo training to get me there.

Nice job this morning Jeffery! Speed work is always good, and it breaks up the monotony...

Keep working hard!

Sounds like a great plan man. Keep it up I really see you getting that goal at BQ. I find the interval speed work harder to recovery from then the tempo runs.

Thanks for checking in Clay and Mark. It helps me to get out and run when I know I have someone holding me accountable. Hopefully this faster running doesn't do me in like it has in the past. Maybe I can listen to the body for once and ease off if I need to.

I think your plan sounds great too. Just remember to listen to your body first and if certain days it just doesn't want to do the speedwork you have planned then it's ok to punt and try another day.

I've also noticed after Saturday long runs my legs seem a lot happier come Monday if I keep moving around alot over the weekend with walking, hiking, biking, yardwork, etc.
