Since so many people that ran SGM are starting to do tempo runs and faster miles, I decided to jump on the band wagon today and do a short 3 mile tempo run just to see how it felt.  I was kinda wimping out on what pace I thought I should run those miles.  At first I was thinking I would just do marathon pace miles but as I got going, I decided to try and do true tempo pace miles.  After a three mile warm up I got into the tempo pace and settled into a pretty good rhythm.  Splits came in at 6:50, 6:53 and 6:55.  Cooled off with two more easy miles and called it good.  The morning running weather here has been simply perfect and looks to continue for the rest of this week too.  We are usually in the high 50s and get up to the mid 80s during the day, which is way above our average of mid 70s.

6 weeks until LVM so it is time to get serious again about a solid build up and a couple of 20 milers.  The plan is to do 20 this Saturday and then 17-18 the next week and then 20+ in three weeks and then the usual 3 week taper.  Hopefully with enough duct tape and glue I can hold my body together for one more marathon this year.

Jeff, good luck at the LVM. That's another one of my goal marathons. Maybe in a couple of years.

Those are some pretty fast splits you had this morning.

Great tempo run Jeff! I'm impressed (and a bit jealous...)

Sounds like a great time of year to be running in Vegas.

Nice run

Hey Jeff!!!

Looks like you're back in the groove. Nice tempo run.

I like your plan for LVM. Just make sure you put in enough rest days there and you'll have no need for the duct tape and glue.

Hey you can do almost anything with duct tape but I am not sure putting and injured body is back together is one of them. by the look of your splits I would think you are doing well though. Keep it up and good luck at LVM.

Are you trying to BQ there or just finish?

From Clay on Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 13:23:16

Your an animal Jeff! Keep up the good work, and be careful out there;-)

DoG...Welcome to the blog. I'll let you know how LVM turns out, I've heard many bad things about the organization (Devine Racing) so the jury is still out on this one. I'm going in with no expectations, maybe that is a good thing, I may be pleasently surprised.

Cal...come on down, the weather is great!

Dave...Thanks

Smooth...rest days? No rest for the wicked!

Kathie...Maybe not duct tape but anti inflams work well. I don't think a BQ is possible for me on that course but I will try to run it as fast as I can. Don't know if that means a PR or just a respectable finish.

Clay...I'm always careful, well most of the time.
