So much for the 20 mile long run.  Managed 16 today and felt pretty good for the first 12 or 13 then the legs started to get fatigued.  Took some power gel but it didn't seem to do much for me.  I really need to contnue to do more of these longer runs to build up my endurance if I am going to turn in a respectable marathon time.  Still have a little twinge in the the right calf area that I hope to run through next week.  Will try for six days next week at easy pace days.

Time: 8:52/mile

Nice run. You probably don't need a 20 miler this early in the season, anyway.

I agree. My rule for the long run is that it should not be longer than what you are fit to do. If you start losing form, you've gone too long. This run shows you should keep your long run down to 13 for now but make about 6 of it fast. Do not worry about not going close to race distance - consistent daily runs overtime tend to build a racing range that is about 2-3 times their average length.
