Survived!!!  The last nasty tempo run before LVM is done.  Glad to have it over with and glad I was able to accomplish my goal for the run.  Broke out the Saucony racing flats again today, I love these shoes, they are so light and bright!!  Wanted to keep the 5 tempo miles all at 6:50 or less and was able to do that.  Warmed up with 2 miles and then started the tempo miles, here are the spilts:  6:48, 6:47, 6:46, 6:50, 6:42.  I started wheezing a bit by the end of the 4th mile and was concerned that I might not be able to make 5 miles.  Somehow I was able to relax and get my breathing under control and got into a good rhythm.  I think the relaxing really helped me to run better as the 5th mile split shows.  So much of running is mental and I think I proved that to myself today.  I just need to be able to carry that tough mental aspect of running through an entire 26.2 mile race.  Cooled off with 2 more miles and called it a day.  Very nice day for running again with the temp at 51 and a light breeze.

I read your blog right before I did my run and you inspired me to try and run faster. You are going to do so well at LVM!

Jeff those are some great splits, and one heck of a tempo run. I think you will kick some serious butt in LVM, keep up the good work!

Very nice job on your tempo miles! You could be ready for a major breakthru at LVM.

WOOOOWWWWW!!! That is one impressive tempo run man. Did you look at those splits. DANG DUDE!! And you held on to that pace that is one good run man. Relaxing is totally the key to running fast I have noticed too. And you did it just right bro. Great job on a awesome run. LOOK OUT LVM!!!!

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I hope everything comes together for LVM. I am training harder than I expected to be, I hope it pays off.

Sorry for the late chime in. WOW!!! Those were impressive splits and what an awesome tempo run. You're right about the mental part, purposeful relaxation is so key to sustaining a tough tempo like you did. Great job. You're working hard. It's gonna pay off at LVM.
