Well I was able to log one mile today but not without a bit of pain.  The first quarter mile started out well and everything felt really good, then the calf started to wimper a little and by the end it was really grumbling.  I am hoping that things will continue to improve each day, I'm sure they will.  I just wish I had three more weeks until the marathon to get fully healed.  Oh well, such is life.  :(

Man argh sorry to hear your calf isnt working with you right now. Was LVM this weekend?

From Kathie on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 12:52:29

Hey one mile is one mile! Even if you don't log another mile you will do great. Hey how is you potassium intake I know when my muscles are trying to repair I will take a potassium supplement and it helps but this close to the marathon you might not want to try anything new, maybe just eat more bananas :)

From Rhett on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 12:59:47

Keep the faith, it is getting better.

From Smooth on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 13:58:10

So sorry to hear your calf isn't healing as fast as you want right now. Can you see a sport doc? It wouldn't hurt, might help. Yah, keep the faith. It is getting better. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Jeff, sorry to hear it's not improving quicker. It would be awful frustrating if you can't run this weekend after your training has gone so well. A lot can still happen in 3 days. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Jeff,

How are you feeling today?

From DonGardinero on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 12:46:59

From Smooth on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 14:06:49

Jeff -- PLEASE tell us your calf is feeling better today. Thinking of you and believing in you.

From JeffC on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 15:53:41

Sorry everyone for not chiming in earlier. Unfortunately my calf is not feeling better and I have pretty much come to the conclusion that I will not be running. I may go out and jog/walk the race but haven't decided yet. Any thoughts? I will blog more later when I have more time.

From Rhett on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 16:01:59

I'm so sorry to hear that Jeff. If it is definitely injurred I'd say your better off not doing anything at all. I tried to run a marathon once with an injury and ended seriously huring myself, getting a DNF, and not being able to run for almost 6 months afterwards. If it is just a knot in the muscle, you may want to go out and give it a try and see if it looses up. You know your body best. Don't do anything stupid.

From Kathie on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 16:59:49

Oh Jeff I am so sorry. I know you have worked so hard for this! Do you think you could call the race director and see if they will delay the race until you are healed? Just kidding I wish it were that easy. Just do what is best for you!

From Teena on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 18:01:46

Jeff,

STINK!!!

(that's all I have to say ... oh yeah, and that I think you're absolutely fantastic ... oh yeah, and hang in there ... btw, this really does stink!)

From DonGardinero on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 19:04:52

From Teena on Sat, Dec 06, 2008 at 21:26:23

Jeff,

Have you made a final decision? Are you running/jogging/walking in the morning?

From Smooth on Sun, Dec 07, 2008 at 00:30:36

Jeff, I'm so so so sorry. Whatever you decide, we're thinking of you and wishing the best.
