Well it actually came together fairly well today for a good hard long run.  Plan was to go out and run 3 warm up miles to get really good and warmed up and then go at least 10 and maybe more at marathon pace (7:28/mile).  The first 3 miles were right at an 8:30 pace and then I was able to pick it up for 13.1 miles with these splits:  7:18, 7:27, 7:26, 7:28, 7:28, 7:25, 7:30, 7:28, 7:29, 7:31, 7:32, 7:24, 7:23 and I don't know what the pace was for the last .1 but it was probably in the range of 7:25.  Took it easy for the next 3 miles and brought it back down to 8:25/mile pace and then picked it up for the last mile and came in at 7:40.

This was not an easy or even moderately hard run, it was hard!  I think it does a little bit to instill me with some confidence that I am farily well prepared but not sure about maintaining that pace for the full 26.2.  I was contending with high temps and the entire course was completely flat so on race day I will have a couple of advantages working in my favor, cooler temps and a downhill course.  Hopefully those two things will be enough, along with race day magic, to get me across the finish with at least a PR and hopefully a BQ.

Wow Jeff, sounds like a great confidence booster to me. You have had a great year, how cool to finish it off with a BQ. Your chance is lurking!!

Definitely a confidence booster! You'll have another advantage on race day...you'll be running with MarkO and me! So 3:15 is a 7:28/mi pace? Hmmm...should be doable..just hope it's doable for 26.2! See you in 3 weeks!

I'm glad your back is feeling better. Looks like with a good taper and proper fueling you have a good shot at that BQ.

It is amazing how far you have come from your recent low point when things were not looking good to this. What a great confidence booster to get all those MP miles in on a flatter, hotter, non-race day! Awesome job!

Great run Jeff. It looks like you're in position to make a run for a BQ.

In 2006 (my first marathon), I ran my last 20 miler between 8:05 and 8:10 pace (flat in Vegas). Then with just a couple of weeks to go I looked at what it took to qualify for Boston. So I started running my weekly runs at just under 7:30 pace for the last two weeks. I finished the marathon that year at 7:30 pace so that gives you an idea the kind of time you can make up on the course (which you probably already know).

You're ahead of where I was with the 20 at 7:45. I'm looking forward to our little 3:15 pace group come marathon day.
