Wow, two days in a row.  I guess I better enjoy it now because I might not make it out tomorrow unless I get really gung ho and decided to run at scout camp.  I think I have had enough camping for the year.  Luckily my 11 year olds have done all there required camping and I won't need to go camping for several months.  I enjoy camping, it just messes up the running schedule.  Oh well, whatcha gonna do?

Everything felt pretty good today.  I plan to start increasing my daily runs to 7 or 8 miles next week to start ramping up again for Las Vegas Marathon.  I really need to do 15 tomorrow, but like I said, not sure if it will happen.  In order to get in a couple of 20s before the marathon I need to make them next week and a couple weeks after that before the so called taper.  I'm still in reverse taper mode, not sure if I am ready to build and then taper in a few more weeks.  Sounds like too much work.

Good job at not pressing it.

Yeah your doing your own grand slam. Good job in getting 2 good runs together. Times spent with your boys like that though is time well spent in my book.

Mark...these are not my boys, these are other parents boys, I'm just the ringleader.....uh, I mean asst. scoutmaster.

Hey some of my best runs were at girls camp. sometime I will have to tell you about the run with the bear! I say go for it at scout camp!

From Dave S on Fri, Oct 24, 2008 at 13:25:30

Wow Jeff, It seams like you're at scout camp every time you turn around. I wish my 11 year old son was in your group. He has been 11 for 10 months and hasn't had one camp. There is only one other boy his age in our ward and I guess his leader figures it's not worth it for just 2 boys.

From JeffC on Fri, Oct 24, 2008 at 13:48:07

I only have two boys in my troop too. This was not a campout planned by the ward, it was a camporee planned by our scouting district. If it wasn't for our stake getting us signed up I wouldn't be going. Luckily it's very close to home and I think it should be pretty laid back. In fact we won't even be there most of the night tonight because our ward is doing it's annual haunted house for the stake and all the scouts want to be there for that, so who knows when we will actutally get to camping anyway.

From Smooth on Fri, Oct 24, 2008 at 14:05:58

District camporees are fun. The boys will be occupied with their merit badge activities. I'd go run if I were you.

When's the Las Vegas Marathon again? How many weeks between SGM and LVM? Do you really need to do couple of 20's in there? Tell me more. Inquiry mind wants to know.

Nicely done Jeffrey!!! :)

Sorry ... nicely done Jeff!!!

Have fun at scout camp ... AGAIN!!

From JeffC on Fri, Oct 24, 2008 at 15:15:05

Smooth...LVM is Dec 7 so about 9 weeks between the marathons. I figure I need at least one 20 miler and maybe two just for the extra umph! No merit badges at this Camporee. They are doing a big service project today and then a bunch of competitions tomorrow. Should be fun, but I wish there were more scout related stuff for passing off requirements or merit badges.

From Smooth on Fri, Oct 24, 2008 at 15:51:16

9 weeks between marathons is perfect. Enough time to recover from the 1st, ramp it up again before tapering for the 2nd. And it looks like you have some nice weather down there now for great running.

In my book, good scout leaders are Godsend. And you're one of them!!! It helps to have a supportive wife too...'cause she can't come along for the fun.

She is a very supportive wife, she is helping me drive some of the boys today. What an Angel.
