A bit of a setback today  :(  I got all dressed up to go for a run and only made it about 10 seconds before I knew I needed to stop.  It wasn't terrible pain, but it was enough to let me know I better just continue to rest it.  I am able to walk without pain (I guess walking the marathon is an option).  I am able to climb stairs with only slight discomfort.  I did notice what I think is some slight swelling on the outside area of my calf, but I'm not sure, it could just be my massive muscular calf just rippling out there :)  I guess I will just keep doing what I am doing and try to run each day to guage the progress.  I still have 4 more full healing days left, that's enough, right?

Hang in there man. Good job listening to your body. Ya you just have massively muscular calves.:) Its what Meg loves about you. Stay positive man.

Jeff...

I'm sure it IS the rippling muscles. Oh, that made me laugh. I laugh because I've done the same thing. I look down and see a bulge on my calf and I do a double-take thinking there's something wrong, so I feel it and it's just the muscle bulging out. Funny stuff.

Get some more rest.

Jeff you were smart not to push it... four days is plenty of time to heal just think positive and you will be better in no time at all!

From Rhett on Wed, Dec 03, 2008 at 12:39:51

Jeff your going to be ready! Keep saying it. Are you taking any ibuprofin. 800mg 4 x a day to decrease inflamation. I don't like to run on it though, it masks the pain, but as long as you are just resting it, I'd be popping pills.

Keep doing the healing treatment therapy. 4 days is enough time to get the tightness and knots out. I agree with Rhett on getting the inflammation down. Lots of RICE and positive thoughts.

Amen to what everyone has said. Plus ... get as many people as you know to send you positive energy and say lots of prayers on your behalf. I'M SERIOUS!! I'll say one right now!! :)

Hang in there ... tomorrow will be better than today, Friday will be even better than Thursday, Saturday you will feel like a Rockstar and Sunday you will be a Rockstar!! Just watch!!

a couple good doses of Prednisone might zap that swelling for you. (not too late to see the sports doc...)

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone. I am losing faith that this marathon will be a 100% effort.
