I normally don't run on Sunday but due to one of our teammates being sick I was asked to sub for him. Great day for running but the course was rediculous. We were asked to start our running the first .25 miles in the opposite direction of the course, then go around a tall orange cone and run back to the start and then run two laps around the water detention basin at Wayne Bunker Park. Try to imagine close to 600 runners circling this cone and then going back against the grain, what a mess. Once we got out of the mess the flow was fine and the rest of the course was pretty good. The only other gripe I have was that my Garmin recorded the distance as 3.25 instead of 3.1 so my time is probably a bit slow for a 5K but I guess that is the way it goes. I will just have to run another 5K sometime to set a new PR. The Southwest Gas team ended up taking the team silver medal so overall it was a good day. |
