The calf is still bothering me a little bit today but it is much better than yesterday.  I can walk without a limp but I can still feel the tightness/soreness.  I obviously skipped the run today, but I doubt I could have run on it anyway.  I have been icing, wrapping, and elevating when I can.  I decided not to make a quick trip to the doc today for a couple of reasons:  I don't have a good sports doc and the pain had improved enough that I am hopeful I will be able to run LVM.  I guess missing a run or two at this point isn't going to hurt and I'd rather be safe than sorry at this point.

Jeff, I'm glad the calf is much better. Keep the RICE going. Does it hurt to massage or stretch?

No need to run a single step at this point. Rest, rest, rest and I will pray, pray, pray. I have a feeling you're gonna be fine. Yes, better be save than sorry. Sending postive healing thoughts your way.

Thank you Smooth. Yes, it does hurt to stretch and massage, not bad pain, but enough to know there is some tightness and soreness in the area.

Jeff, I strained my calf the week before both Boston and SGM this year. I don't know how, but it just knotted up on me. Left at Boston, Right at SGM. Anyways I did the rice thing along with mild message with the stick. Even the day before it was sore, but in both races it did not affect me one bit. I hope the same thing happens for you. Rest, ice, message as much as possible. No serious stretching. You'll be ready! Think positively.

Oh Jeff I missed your post yesterday! I am glad you are feeling better today and I will be sending you healing vibes!

Jeff..

I hope it's feeling better soon. isn't that just the way it goes? You run miles and miles, day after day with no problems and then hurt something doing a different activity. Keep us posted.

I was so bummed when I saw your post yesterday. I'm glad that things are looking better now. Sounds like you should at least be in shape to start the race - then just keep going! Best of luck!
