This was my second half-marathon and about a five minute PR over the first, but still not where I know I can be. This race was an out and back course on a dirt road that runs along the Colorado River just outside of Laughlin, NV near the Avi casino. The race started at about 9:00 am and it was very, very warm for March. The aid stations near the end of the course ran out of water so it was a real struggle to get in. Luckily there was still some water at the finish when I came in but when my wife came in all they had was Propel which she really dislikes. I don't know if we will be going back to this race due to this major oversite on the part of the organizers. Other than the water, everything seemed to run fairly smooth. Meg actually placed 6th overall and 2nd in her age group so very good run for her although it was not a PR. |
