Nice and easy recovery run today.  Didn't try to push it at all today but focused mainly on recovery.  The schedule I am using calls for one more tempo run next week on Wednesday with 4 at tempo pace and a warm up and cool down mile.  Does anyone have any thoughts on whether that is too close to the marathon to be running a hard day?  I was thinking of maybe switching the run to Tuesday instead and making it a marathon pace run instead of a tempo run.  4 miles at marathon pace should be fairly easy and shouldn't cause me any problems going in to the marathon and should help keep my legs sharp during that last week...any thoughts?  Nothing else too exciting.  Temps still hanging out mostly in the low 70s in the early morning hours.  It's supposed to get back up around 100 for the highs this weekend but then it cools off next week.  Maybe we'll get lucky for the marthon.

Well my training is only 3 days a week with xtraining. So I have only 3 runs to go before the big show. Tues will be 6 x400 with warm up and cool down. Thur will be 3 miles 1 warm up and 2 at MP. Then race. So I think its perfectly fine to do it that way. And if your training says to do it. Then I would be doing it. It is just a final confidence builder I think. Gearing you up for a peak performance we all hope.

I agree, the last week before a marathon I like to do my faster running at MP to get my legs used to that speed.

I would think with 2 days to recover during an already easy week, especially if you do MP, you should be fresh on Sat.

Jeff, my schedule calls for the same run, but there's no way I'm doing it that close to SGM. I'm just going to keep it easy next week. I guess we're both using the RunnersWorld training plan.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will switch it to Tuesday and go at marathon pace...maybe a little faster depending on how I feel.

Dale...Yes it is the Runners World plan but with my injuries and such it has been on again and off again. Since you just finished TOU I wouldn't be doing any fast running between now and SGM either.

Jeff ~ I'm on the same plan as Huans32. It has us running faster but shorter to keep things sharp. I think your plan to dial it down to mp is good. I'd try to run a few at mp on your Sat. run. Then on Tue run a couple of mp and may be one (or two max) faster than mp (15K race pace) if you feel up to it. 9 more days! WooHoo!

You didn't mention anything about your meds. Did you do this with or without??

From Kathie on Thu, Sep 24, 2009 at 18:20:45 from 63.248.105.188

I am doing 4X400 on Monday and the rest of the week easy (maybe a mp mile every now and then)

Mark..Without..woooohoooo! I hope not to take them again, we'll see how that goes.

I won't offer any advice but you know what I would say if I did.
